What Is It? and Why Should We Do It?
Proclamation prayer is a from of authority prayer. In proclamation prayer, we use the authority of Jesus Christ to make pronouncements over a person or group or event or situation, commanding that it will come into alignment with God's perfect will for it. There is great power in authority prayer because we are not just making requests to God, we are actively working with Him to enforce His will in a given situation.
The key to success in any type of authority prayer is to be like Jesus, who said, "the Son can do nothing of Himself, but [He does] what He sees the Father do; for whatever the Father does, the Son also does in like manner" (John 5:19). In short, we can only use God's authority to do what God is doing.
That means we have to know what God is doing in a given situation in order to use authority prayer for it. So how do we find out what God is doing? The answer is both simple. We let God show us what He is doing and we learn to recognize His voice.
Here are a few simple guidelines in determining what He is doing. First, we need to know (and consult) our Bible. The Bible is important because it shows us how God is likely to act in many different situations. It lets us know how He feels about things, and it also serves as a guide or road map in judging/evaluating what we think we hear God speak to us. We know that He will never speak a prayer direction to us that conflicts with what He has already said in His written word.
In addition to the reading our Bible, we should seek to walk close to God and to develop a personal and intimate relationship with Him. This involves things like making a commitment to obey Him, daily prayer, spending time with Him, worship, etc. The closer we walk to God, the better we get to know Him, and the the easier it is to hear His voice and to see what He is doing.
There is one more way to find out what God is doing. That is through the discernment of those who we trust as spiritual leaders. If we have a godly leader who has a proven track record in hearing God's voice, we can trust their direction in prayer assignments.
Authority prayer is extremely powerful when we use it in accord with God's will. But authority prayer is not effective when we try to use it to accomplish anything outside of God's will and agenda. I.e., we can't decide that we want something that lays outside of God's will for us, then try to use God's authority or power to get what we want. Authority prayer only works when we are in line with God's will; when we are doing what God is doing. To put it another way, you can't use God's authority and power to do something that goes against God's plans.
For instance, let's say you have a sick relative and you really want to see the person healed. You might try authority prayer to command the sickness to leave them, or you might command their body to be healed. That works most of the time, because most of the time it is not God's will for people to be sick. But what if that person has completed God's earthly assignment for them and it is there time to "go home" to Heaven and their great reward. In that case, your prayer is not going to work. Sickness will not have to obey your commands because you are issuing them outside of God's will.
Hebrews 9:27 says, "it is appointed for men to die." If sickness tries to take them before their God-appointed time, then you can successfully use God's authority to command that sickness to leave them. But that same command won't work when God says that it is time for them to come home to Heaven.
Does that make sense? If not, look at what Ecclesiastes 3:1-3 says: "To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under Heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up..." God has appointed several times and seasons in a person's life. We cannot use God's authority to violate God's timing in a person's life.
But on the other hand, the devil (who is the enemy of our souls) is constantly at work to mess up God's plan and timing for people's lives. According to John 10:10, the devil wants "to steal, and to kill, and to destroy." He wants to wreck havoc in a person's live, doing all he can to separate them from God's perfect will for their lives. That is one of the main reasons that the Lord has given us His authority--to use against the devils' plans to spoil God's plans.
Jesus said in Matthew 28:18, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me." Jesus gave His disciples that same authority in Matthew 10:1. In that specific instance, they were to use it "to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness." I.e., they were to use the authority of God to undo the works that the devil did to violate God's will.
That is the same thing Jesus did, over and over again, when He walked on this earth. He saw what the Father was doing in a person's life and He saw how the devil was opposing that. Then He used His authority to undo the devil's perversion of God's will in people's lives. Acts 10:38 puts it this way: "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
Jesus was passionate about seeing what the Father was doing, and then doing it with Him in His power and authority. He loved doing it, and He gave us the ability to do the same thing. He gave His authority us us after He rose from the dead and just before He ascended back into Heaven. The bible records this in Acts 1:7-8: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
In short, when Jesus left the earth, He gave us His authority so we could keep doing what He had been doing. When Jesus walked this earth, He used His authority to do the Father's will. Now He has given us that same authority, so that we can keep doing what He did. If you think about it, that makes perfect sense, because we are His body here on earth. Through us, He is still doing the Father's business; He is still destroying the works of the devil that violate God's will. Jesus accomplishes this through us--He gave us His authority and He expects us to use it the same way that He did.
That is the foundation and basis of all authority prayer.
Now, let's get back to proclamation prayer, which is one form of authority prayer. Proclamation allows us to use Christ's authority to do the Father's will. Proclamation prayer is where we declare God's will over a given person, group, or situation; we use the authority that He has given us to enforce God's will through our spoken proclamation. This works because we are doing what the Father is doing, and because we are using the authority that Jesus gave us to do it.
There are two different forms of proclamation prayer: Prophetic and non-prophetic. Prophetic declarations are uttered through the gift of prophesy at the Holy Spirit's leading. Non-prophetic proclamations are where God uses something other that prophesy to show us what to declare. The only difference between the two types of proclamation prayer is how we figure out what it is that we are going to proclaim.
This teaching series will give you several non-prophetic proclamations. How did we determine what to proclaim? Well, the Lord can use many different things to give us proclamation prayers. He may have us discern it through Bible study and prayer, or by the Holy Spirit's leading. Or He may lead us to resurrect a declaration that someone originally gave as a prophetic utterance, and instruct us to use it as a part of our prayer.
I wish I could "capture" the prophetic and inject it into everyone's veins so that every single intercessor could pray prophetic proclamations. But the Holy Spirit has not chosen to distribute that particular gift to every believer, so not everyone is able to prophesy or to pray prophetic proclamations.
I should probably explain what prophesy is--it is a gift from God where you hear from Him and then speak forth His words at His command. If you are a prophetic intercessor, then you might open your mouth at His command and He might fill it with what He wants you to proclaim.
But don't fret if you are not a prophetic intercessor, because the Holy Spirit can still lead you to pray powerful proclamation prayers. He will just use something other than prophesy to show you what He wants you to proclaim. In fact, the main emphasis of this teaching series will be to provide you with a set of non-prophetic proclamation tools that you can adapt and use in your prayer life.
The proclamation prayers in this teaching were "developed" in a number of ways. Some were originally given as a prophetic utterance, and were recorded so that others could proclaim them as well. (After they are recorded and used by others, I don't consider them as "prophetic" proclamations. That is because God did not speak them directly to you, He spoke them to someone else, and you are reading/repeating what they told you that God said to them.) But they are still proclamations of God's will and they still carry great spiritual authority and power.
Some of the non-prophetic proclamations in this series were developed by selecting portions of Scripture that proclaim God's will (and His truth) over the lies that the enemy uses to deceive us and to bring us into captivity and bondage. Others were developed by using many things to discern God's will: studying His written word, the Holy Spirit's leading, and the spiritual discernment of others.
These prophetic proclamations all accomplish the same thing--we determine what God's will is and then we speak forth a declaration or proclamation of His will over whatever is opposing it. In all cases, we use the authority of Jesus Christ to accomplish God's will.
This teaching series will provide seven different proclamation prayers. Some of them will be proclamations over our own lives and the rest will be prayed on behalf of others. The prayers will cover:
Lesson 3 - Gaining Victory Over Oppression In Our Own Lives.
Lesson 4 - Proclaiming Our Commitment To Jesus' Lordship.
Lesson 5 - Proclamation Prayer For Financial Breakthrough.
Lessons 6 & 7 - Proclamation Prayer Over Our Families And Loved Ones
Lesson 8 - Proclamation Prayer Over Our City
Lesson 9 - Proclamation Prayer For The Prophetic Person
Lesson 10 - Proclamation Prayer For The Internet
But before we dive into the proclamation prayers, I want to give you a couple of examples of how proclamation prayers are done and the powerful effect they can have. We will look at those examples in Lesson 2.
Examples of Proclamation Prayers
In our last lesson, we discovered that Jesus has given us His authority and He expects us to use it to accomplish His Father's will here on the earth. We also discovered that proclamation prayer is one of the ways that we can use God's authority to accomplish His purposes. There are two components to proclamation prayer. The first is to determine what God's will is, and the second is to speak it forth in His authority.
That all sounds great in theory, but it might be a bit confusing to figure out how that walks out in our day-to-day prayer lives. So what I would like to do is to give you a few real-life examples of what it looks like and of the type of results that it has.
Example of Prophetic Proclamation
Prophetic proclamation is where God puts His words in our mouth as we pray, and we are prophesying as we pray. Let me share what may have been my first prophetic proclamation prayer experience with you as an example.
In the summer of 1978, I went to the U.S. Center for World Missions in Pasadena for some graduate school summer classes. The center met in some buildings that were a converted apartment complex and served as dorm rooms. The classroom was what used to be the "rec" room. Across the street from us was a large campus occupied by a cult called Summit International. Several of us would go across the street to walk the campus, witness to the cult members and also pray and intercede. One time we were praying and suddenly some words came out of my mouth. It actually surprised me at the time.
I began telling the campus that it was going to be used for God's glory and that a church would rise up on this property where God's tangible presence would dwell. I did not understand prophetic prayer back then, and that prayer seemed a little odd to me. But God's Spirit came on the others I was with and they began making similar prophetic prayers.
Some time after that, the cult moved out of the property, and the U.S. Center for World Missions took it over. Then the renewal broke out in Toronto and it also came to Pasadena, and to a church leasing one of the buildings on that property from the U.S. Center for World Missions. That building is known as Mott Auditorium, and the church that uses it is pastored by Che Ann, and is known as a place where people come to meet God, where God's tangible presence dwells on an ongoing basis.
There are times when God will lead intercessors to make prophetic proclamations in prayer. There are many examples of this in Scripture. Let's look at one, the prophetic prayer from the man of Judah to the idolatrous altar that Jeroboam was sacrificing on. We see this in 1 Kings 13:1-2:
"By the word of the Lord a man of God came from Judah to Bethel, as Jeroboam was standing by the altar to make an offering. He cried out against the altar by the word of the Lord: 'O altar, altar! This is what the Lord says: "A son named Josiah will be born to the house of David. On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who now make offerings here, and human bones will be burned on you." ' "
We see the fulfillment of this prophetic prayer in 2 Kings 23:3-8. (It is a bit of a long passage, so I am not including it here, but please feel free to read the passage in your Bible.)
Example of Non-Prophetic Proclamation
I used to participate in telephone conference calls with leadership from Bethel Church in Redding Ca. They started mentioning how they were doing a proclamation prayer for financial breakthrough when they took their offerings. Shortly after they started praying this prayer, they started seeing amazing financial breakthroughs in the lives of them members.
That immediately perked my interest, and I tried to get a copy of their proclamation. I asked several different people, who all promised to send it to me, but none of them ever did. I reminded one of the staff to send to to me on three separate occasions, and he still did not. It seemed like something (either God or the other side) was deliberately frustrating my attempts to get this proclamation.
In the meanwhile, the Lord began giving me a new revelation of kingdom resources and of His ability to provide. I had seen it more as getting what you need in advance and then doing what God put on my heart to do with it. The Lord changed my view to His provision being like a stream that constantly flowed above my head. The Lord showed me that I should just do whatever He showed me to do without worrying about whether or not I had the resources for it--then anytime I needed resources to accomplish His plans, I could just reach up and grab what I needed from that ever flowing stream. I could give you all sorts of testimonies of God stretching my faith to spend before I had, and them Him coming through with so that I never went into debt. But I never got to see that proclamation from Bethel that interested me so much.
I was still curious about Bethel's financial breakthrough proclamation, but I did not feel as hungry for it because the Lord had reworked my understanding of His provision and I was not feeling the "need" for a financial "breakthrough" in my own life. But I did eventually get to see the proclamation.
That happened because the Lord led our senior pastor to start doing that same proclamation as a part of our offerings. And each week he would have different people share testimonies of how God was providing financially for them as a result of this proclamation. And that caused everyone's faith to grow, including mine.
Let me give you some examples of the testimonies that came as a result of our congregation reciting that financial breakthrough proclamation each time we took an offering. I think it may cause your faith to grow as well. (By the way, that proclamation is included in one of the future lessons, so you will have the opportunity to pray it as well...)
One man shared that he always pays a lot of taxes every year. But this year, he discovered that he was getting a large refund. Another person was having trouble making ends meet to pay his monthly bills one month; things like food, gas, rent, etc. He prayed this declaration each week at offering time and then he discovered a large amount of cash in the pockets of an old pair of pants that he'd not worn for a long time. He had "lost" (e.g., misplaced) the money some time before when finances were not so tight, and he'd never really missed it. Now that finances were tight, it was suddenly found and got him through the tight month.
One lady wanted to go on a mission trip with the senior pastor which cost about $3500. She also wanted to go to Lakeland (a $1000 to $1500 trip from the San Francisco bay area.) She was on a very limited income and God told her to sign up "in faith" and make arrangements for both things. She did, and at first nothing seemed to happen. It was 48 hours before the deadline to pay for the mission trip, and she did not have the money. She prayed and God said, "Trust Me." Then, to her amazement, the $3500 for the mission trip came in (almost all of it from unexpected sources) in time for the deadline. But it did not stop there. The money also came in for her trip to Lakeland. She got back from Africa and a few days later she left for Lakeland, and God financed the whole thing from "unexpected sources."
One of the leaders in the church discovered that every time he went to the gas station, God multiplied the gas. He would purchase ten or fifteen dollars worth (which worked out to 2.5 to 3.5 gallons) and somehow his gas gage would move from almost empty to totally full each time. This went on for several months, so it wasn't a one time fluke.
There were also stories of people who'd been having trouble finding jobs suddenly getting work. And there were were stories of people getting promotions and raises and one man even got unexpected back pay for some evening classes he took for the sake of his job a year ago.
These testimonies were wonderful, but they had an odd effect on me. I felt a bit jealous that God wasn't taking care of me in the same amazing way. I understood that my case was different because I now had the concept of His 'stream of provision flowing over my head,' where I could reach out and grab whatever I needed whenever I needed it. But I still felt a bit left out as I listened to the amazing testimonies that everyone else was sharing and I mentioned that to God.
But God did not leave me out. One day I was doing my ministry book- keeping, and I noticed that the ministry did not have enough money to pay my housing allowance that month. (The only salary I get from GodSpeak is a small housing allowance, and we use on that money to help pay our household bills.)
I mentioned to God that there wasn't money for this and asked Him to "fix the problem" for me. I told him that it would be a great opportunity to give me a financial testimony like He was giving the others at my church. I could not remember the wording of the whole declaration that we prayed every Sunday as a congregation, but one phrase of it kept running through my memory: "unexpected checks in the mail."
Hours later, that phrase was still running through my mind, so I drove to the post office and looked in GodSpeak's PO box. Sure enough, there were two unexpected checks in there--both from people who don't normally send financial contributions to GodSpeak. If you added the amount of those two checks together, it came to precisely the amount of money for one month's housing allowance. God had given me a testimony as well.
I know it may sound "unusual" to make a declaration by faith for financial breakthrough as we take our offerings, but it seems to work. Many people in my congregation shared testimonies of God meeting their financial needs in unusual ways.
There is a reason for this. God has already said in His word that He desires to take care of His people. Philippians 4:19 says, "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Malachi 3:10-12 says, "Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,' Says the Lord of hosts. "And all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land," says the Lord of hosts."
God has already revealed in His word that He wants to bless His people financially and to take care of their needs, assuming that we give Him Lordship in our finances by tithing. So when we have deep financial problems, this is not God's will for us. The financial hardship comes from the devil, who is opposing God's will for prosperity in our lives. When we utter the proclamation prayer for financial breakthrough, we are declaring God's will in our lives and we are breaking the power of the enemy to hinder that will. We are, in effect, commanding our financial situation to come into alignment with God's will. And that is why the declaration works.
Victory over Oppression
This proclamation is mostly praying a series of bible verses that were prayerfully selected by Victor Matthews to break the lies and deception of the devil off of us and to set us forth in the reality of our destiny and position in Christ.
This prayer is extremely powerful in the lives of any believer who still struggle against the lies of the devil in their own life.
I recommend praying this prayer on a daily basis until there is no more need for it. It was not intended as a one-time prayer, but as something to be prayed on an ongoing basis until the Holy Spirit has worked a change in you in response to the prayer.
Feel free to modify the prayer or change the wording to suit you better. Plan to use this proclamation prayer as a launching point to jump off into more in-depth or extended dialog with God.
The prayer is written by Victor M. Matthews, and it is public domain (e.g., non-copyrighted.) You can find it on the internet at: http://www.evanwiggs.com/revival/prinpray/warfare.html
Warfare Prayer By Victor M. Matthews
Heavenly Father, I bow in worship and praise before You. I cover myself with the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ as my protection. I surrender myself completely and unreservedly in every area of my life to You. I take a stand against all the workings of Satan that would hinder me in my prayer life. I address myself only to the true and living God and refuse any involvement of Satan in my prayer.
Satan, I command you, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, to leave my presence with all your demons. I bring the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ between us.
Heavenly Father, I worship You and give You praise. I recognize that You are worthy to receive all glory and honor and praise. I renew my allegiance to You and pray that the blessed Holy Spirit would enable me in this time of prayer. I am thankful, Heavenly Father, that You have loved me from past eternity and that You sent the Lord Jesus Christ into the world to die as my substitute. I am thankful that the Lord Jesus Christ came as my representative and that through Him You have completely forgiven me; You have adopted me into your family; You have assumed all responsibility for me; You have given me eternal life; You have given me the perfect righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ so I am now justified. I am thankful that in Him, you have made me complete, and that You have offered Yourself to me to be my daily help and strength.
Heavenly Father, open my eyes that I might see how great You are and how complete Your provision is for this day. I am thankful that the victory the Lord Jesus Christ won for me on the cross and in His resurrection has been given to me and that I am seated with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Heavenlies. I take my place with Him in the Heavenlies and recognize by faith that all wicked spirits and Satan himself are under my feet. I declare, therefore, that Satan and his wicked spirits are subject to me in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I am thankful for the armor You have provided. I put on the Girdle of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness, the Sandals of Peace and the Helmet of Salvation. I lift up the Shield of Faith against all the fiery darts of the enemy; and I take in my hand the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. I choose to use Your Word against all the forces of evil in my life. I put on this armor and live and pray in complete dependence upon You, blessed Holy Spirit.
I am grateful, Heavenly Father, that the Lord Jesus Christ spoiled all principalities and powers and made a show of them openly and triumphed over them in Himself. I claim all that victory for my life today. I reject all the insinuations, and accusations, and the temptations of Satan. I affirm that the Word of God is true and I choose to live today in the light of God's Word. I choose, Heavenly Father, to live in obedience to You and in fellowship with Yourself. Open my eyes and show me the areas of my life that do not please You. Work in me to cleanse me from all ground that would give Satan a foothold against me. I do in every way stand into all that it means to be Your adopted child and I welcome all the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
By faith and in dependence upon You, I put off the fleshly works of the old man and stand into all the victory of the crucifixion where the Lord Jesus Christ provided cleansing from the old nature. I put on the new man and stand into all the victory of the resurrection and the provision He has made for me to live above sin.
Therefore, today I put off all forms of selfishness and put on the new nature with its love. I put off all forms of fear and put on the new nature with its courage. I put off all forms of weakness and put on the new nature with its strength. I put off all forms of lust and put on the new nature with its righteousness, purity, and honesty. I am trusting You to show me how to make this practical in my daily life.
In every way I stand into the victory of the ascension and glorification of the Lord Jesus Christ, whereby all the principalities and powers were made subject to Him. I claim my place in Christ as victorious with Him over all the enemies of my soul. Blessed Holy Spirit, I pray that You would fill me. Come into my life, break down every idol and cast out every foe.
I am thankful, Heavenly Father, for the expression of Your will for my daily life as You have shown me in Your Word. I, therefore, claim all the will of God for today. I am thankful that You have blessed me with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. I am thankful that You have begotten me unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. I am thankful that You have made a provision so that today I can live filled with the Spirit of God with love and joy and peace, with long-suffering, gentleness and goodness, with meekness, faithfulness and self-control in my life. I recognize that this is Your will for me and I therefore reject and resist all the endeavors of Satan and his wicked spirits to rob me of the will of God. I refuse in this day to believe my feelings and I hold up the Shield of Faith against all the accusations and distortion and insinuations that Satan would put into my mind. I claim the fullness of the will of God for my life today.
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I completely surrender myself to You, Heavenly Father, as a living sacrifice. I choose not to be conformed to this world. I choose to be transformed by the renewing of my mind, and I pray that You would show me Your will and enable me to walk in all the fullness of Your will today.
I am thankful, Heavenly Father, that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, to the casting down of imagination and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge God, and to bring every thought into obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, in my own life today I tear down the strongholds of Satan and smash the plans of Satan that have been formed against me. I tear down the strongholds of Satan against my mind, and I surrender my mind to You, blessed Holy Spirit. I affirm, Heavenly Father, that You have not given me the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind. I break and smash the strongholds of Satan formed against my emotions today and I give my emotions to you. I smash the strongholds of Satan formed against my will today, I give my will to You and choose to make the right decisions of faith. I smash the strongholds of Satan formed against my body today, I give my body to You recognizing that I am your temple. I rejoice in Your mercy and goodness.
Heavenly Father, I pray that now and through this day You would strengthen and enlighten me. Show me the way Satan is hindering and tempting and lying and distorting the truth in my life. Enable me to be the kind of person that would please You. Enable me to be aggressive in prayer and faith. Enable me to be aggressive mentally, to think about and practice Your Word, and to give You Your rightful place in my life.
Again, I cover myself with the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and pray that You, blessed Holy Spirit, would bring all the work of the crucifixion, all the work of the resurrection, all the work of the glorification, and all the work of Pentecost into my life today. I surrender myself to You. I refuse to be discouraged. You are the God of all hope. You have proven Your power by resurrecting Jesus Christ from the dead, and I claim in every way this victory over all the satanic forces in my life. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ with thanksgiving. Amen.
Commitment To God's Lordship
Jesus said something interesting in John 14:15, "If you love Me, keep My commandments." I like to paraphrase that as, "If you love Me, prove it to Me by obeying Me." Obedience is very important to God, and He wants us to commit to obey Him in all things because we love Him. Obedience is a good start, but God wants even more than that from us. Jesus summed it up this way in Mark 12:30, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength."
In short, God wants us to be fully and completely committed to Him in every aspect of our lives.
It is not always easy to get to that point, because we each have our own desires, wills and agendas. That is why it helps me to remind myself of the commitment that I made to God over and over again. I like to pray a prayer of re-commitment to Him on an ongoing basis.
If you haven't already made the initial commitment, then I encourage you to do so right away. If you have already made this total commitment to God, then I encourage you to remind yourself of it regularly by praying a prayer of re-commitment.
The words are not important, the important part is your intent to put God first and to sincerely intend to obey Him without question whenever He commands you to do something.
The Lord originally gave this proclamation to me as a prophetic prayer to put in a brochure as a thank-you gift to some GodSpeak financial sponsors. But I feel that it is a powerful prayer, and I want to make it available to everyone who is affiliated with GodSpeak, including those in our online prayer-school.
This prayer is not intended as a one-time prayer, but as a launching point for you to make a daily re-commitment to His lordship in every area of your day-to-day life. The way I use it is to start by praying the prayer (as written in the lesson). But I my spiritual ears open as I pray, to listen to anything God is saying to me. When I hear Him speak to me, or when I am remanded of something, then I pause from the prayer and pursue that with God. When as I am done with that, then I go back to where I left off in the prayer, and keep praying. It is not uncommon for me to launch off into discussion with God from this prayer many times before I get all the way through praying it.
Please feel free to use this prayer if you find it a helpful tool. But whether you use this prayer or not, you should regularly recommit yourself to His lordship in every area of your life.
Jesus Be My Lord
Lord Jesus, I worship You and I magnify Your name. You are the God of all creation, and You are worthy of all praise and glory and honor and majesty. You are high and lifted up and Your train fills the temple. You are glorious beyond measure, and I love You with all of my heart and with all of my soul and with all of my being.
I am so grateful that You have redeemed me and that I belong to You. Thank You that You have made a provision for all of My sins to be forgiven. Condemnation has no more power over me because of what You have done. Through You, I am accepted in the Beloved, and I can come to God my Father without any fear or hesitancy, knowing that He will not reject me or push me away. I am completely and thoroughly loved and You have made me so secure in You. That is why I willing and gratefully place myself under Your power and authority.
I recognize that You are Lord and Master for all the universe, and I choose to honor You as such in my own personal life. Lord Jesus, I commit myself fully and unreservedly to obey You, and I ask You to teach me how to walk out Your Lordship in every area of my day-to-day life. Lord, I commit to obey You in all things. Just as You once gave Your life for me, I now give My life to You, because I am so grateful of all You have done for Me. Lord, I give up all of my rights to You and I place myself completely and totally under Your Lordship.
Holy Spirit, Thank you that You have taken up residence inside of me. Thank You that You have promised to lead and guide me in all things, and to help me better understand the Father's will for My life. Thank You that You are teaching me how to hear and recognize God's voice clearly and accurately. Thank You for the spiritual gifts that You have placed inside of me. Teach me how to use them for Your glory and in accordance with God's perfect will. Enable me to see what the Father is doing, so that I can do it with Him, just like Jesus did. Please continue to work in my life to increase my faith, and continue to anoint and empower me. Draw me closer to God that I might walk in deeper intimacy with Him.
I earnestly desire that You change my very thinking and desires to be more like Yours. I want to like the things that You like and I want to disdain the things that You disdain Please change my desires and my passions to line up with Your desires and passions. Change me from the inside out so that I become a person who You enjoy living inside of. I choose not to keep on grieving You, but to cooperate with You and to work with You to bring honor to God.
I know that I must learn to die to myself, so that I can take on the new nature of Christ. Please keep working in My life to change and transform me, and I will do my best to cooperate with You in that process. I know that I am clay in Your hands and that You are busy at work in my life to form me and mold me into the image of Jesus. I choose to cooperate with You in that process; I want to be completely yielded in Your hands. Make me sensitive to Your leading and direction in all things. I want You to truly enjoy living inside of me and working in my life.
Heavenly Father, Thank You for adopting me into Your family and making me Your own. You are a wonderful Father, and I am so happy to be Your child. Thank You for drawing me into intimacy with You, and for loving me. You take such good care of me; I know that You continually hear my prayers and that You will give good things to me when I ask You for them. You are so faithful to me and I love You.
That is why I want to be like Your Son Jesus was when He walked this earth--He only did what You were doing and He only said what You were saying. I want to be just like Him in that regard. Father, I want to be Jesus' hands and feet here on earth to continue doing what You want to do. I give myself completely and totally to You right now. Please use me to work Your work and accomplish Your purposes.. Here I am Lord, I make myself available to You--please advance --Your Kingdom through me and glorify Your name in my life.
Please teach me how to do Your will with You. I am Yours and I set myself aside for Your purposes. Here I am Lord, I make myself available to You.
Lord God Almighty, I love You and I commit myself completely and totally to You. I trust You to take good care of Me because You are a good God. I am so happy to be Your servant . I thank you for the opportunity that You have given me to worship You and to serve You, and I do so freely and willingly. Thank you again, Lord.. Amen!
Proclamation Of Financial Breakthrough
This is the financial breakthrough declaration that I talked about in lesson 2. It originated at Bethel Church in Redding CA, where Bill Johnson is the senior pastor. Many churches (including my own) have used their financial breakthrough declaration with their offering, and have seen the Lord do some amazing things in the area of people's finances.
Here is the prayer. It is very short and simple, but it is powerful. If your church is willing, I encourage the congregation to pray it together over the offering, and then to start keeping tabs of how this breakthrough walks out in their congregation.
If your congregation is not willing to pray it together, then I encourage you to pray it privately when you prepare your tithes and offerings before service.
Financial Breakthrough Proclamation
As we receive today's offering, we are believing the Lord for:
- Jobs and better jobs
- Raises and bonuses
- Benefits
- Sales and commissions
- Favorable Settlements
- Estates and inheritances
- Interests and income
- Rebates and returns
- Checks in the mail
- Gifts and surprises
- Finding money
- Debts paid off
- Expenses decrease
- Blessings and increase.
Thank You Lord, for meeting all of my financial needs that I may have more than enough to give into the Kingdom of God and promote the Gospel of Christ.
Hallelujah and Amen.
Proclamation Prayers for Our Family and Loved Ones
This lesson is a bit different than the others. Instead of providing a single prayer, I am providing a series of different proclamation prayers that might apply to your family, friends and loved ones.
I am doing it this way because each of us is in a slightly different place in regard to our family situation. Some of us are in Christian families where every member is a believer. Others have many unsaved relatives. Some of use come from broken families while others enjoy close-knit families. Some of us have family members with a health crisis, while others have family members who are frequently in dangerous situations (such as in the military or in high-risk jobs).
It isn't possible for me to cover all of the situations that your loved ones may face, but I am trying to cover some of the common ones. In particular, we will look at prayers for the following:
- A General Prayer For Your Family
- A Prayer for Family Unity
- A Prayer For Spiritual Growth And Maturity
- A Prayer Of Safety For Those In the military or In Dangerous Professions/Situations
- A Prayer For The Healing Of A Sick Loved One
- A Prayer For Unsaved Loved Ones
(We will cover the first three in this lesson, and the remaining ones in lesson 7).
If your family (or loved one) has a special need that is not covered in this lesson, I strongly encourage you to prayerfully sit down and come up with a Spirit-led proclamation prayer for that situation. Then pray and proclaim that prayer over them on an ongoing basis.
General Prayer For Your Family
The Lord Jesus prayed "Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven."(a) I stand in agreement with His prayer, especially in regard to my own family. Lord, I do call forth God's kingdom to come into the day-to-day lives of my family members. I agree for God's will to be done in each of their lives, and that His glory come into each of their situations.
Lord, let their days be good and filled with Your presence and Your peace. I stand in agreement with Your desire that they will live out the fullness of their days in Your joy and grace, and that they lack nothing (b). And in Jesus' name, I call forth Your provision into every area of their need, thankful that You will supply for them according to Your riches in glory (c).
Finally, Lord, I come into agreement with Your promise in Leviticus 25:19, and claim it over my family: that their work will be financially productive, that they will have enough to satisfy all of their needs and that they will live in peace and safety (d).
I thank You for my family Lord, and in Jesus' name, I release Your fullness and Your blessings upon each of them.

Prayer For Family Unity
Lord, You have made it clear in Your word that You desire for us to dwell together in love (a) and unity (b), in peace (c) and prosperity (d). I stand in agreement with Your word for this for my own family.
I call forth the love and unity of God to be manifest in my own family, that there will be great love, affection, understanding and good relationship between all family members, especially between parents and their children (e), between husbands and wives (f), and between brothers and sisters.
Lord, let my family members be united as one (g), loving each other with the same type of love and compassion that Jesus has for each of us. Let my family be fitted together as a cohesive family unit, where Your presence dwells and your glory shines forth through us (h).
Lord, I call forth Your blessings and good plans over my family (i). And through the power and authority of My risen Lord Jesus Christ (j), I raise up to oppose the enemy's attempts to hinder God's good plans for my family.
In His authority, I cancel all assignments of strife (k) against my family, and I cancel the assignments of any spirits of discord, or any other plans of harm that the enemy has against my family. In addition, I break the power of the spirit of divorce, I break the power of the spirit of abuse, and I break the power of the spirit of rebellion. I also cancel the assignments of any spirits of offense or misunderstanding to hinder healthy communications between family members.
I command every unclean spirit that has assigned by the devil to harm my family in any manner to stop! You will release all family members who you are influencing and you will leave now, in Jesus' name.
Lord, I think you for My family. I bless them and I commit them into Your care.

Proclamation For The Prophetic
I realize that there are people in the prayer-school who are not prophetic, and that is fine. Many prophetic people are drawn to GodSpeak, so I am including this proclamation prayer. It is intended for those who already move in the prophetic, and also for those who desire to do so.
If you are not called to the prophetic personally, you can still use this as a model pray to pray for someone else who is. You will have to make a few minor adjustments to it, such as changing it from first person to third person and using the person's name in place of some of the "I" or "me."
For example, if your pastor is prophetic it, you can change it to a prayer for him but making it 3rd person and using the pastor's name. Of course, you can't set your pastor apart for as God's spokesperson (the first sentence of the prayer). But you can acknowledge that God has set him/her aside in that capacity. If you are praying this for someone else, you might want to change the first paragraph to something like,
Lord, you have set ______ aside as Your spokesperson. I ask you to release an increase of the prophetic anointing in his life, and to put your words in his mouth and speak through him. Lord, ______ has chosen to set himself a aside for Your purposes as a holy vessel for You. Help him to dedicate himself to you as Your messenger, and empower him to strive to be one who You feel comfortable speaking through.
I assume you get the idea on how to adapt this prayer, should you choose to pray it for someone else. By the way, this is a great prayer for people who don't move in the prophetic yet, but who really want the Lord to give them that gift.
Proclamation For Those Who Move In The PropheticLord, I set myself aside for You as Your spokesperson. I ask You to release an increase of the prophetic anointing in my life, and to put Your words in my mouth and speak through me. I choose to be set aside for Your purposes as a holy vessel for You. I dedicate myself to You as Your messenger and I strive to be one who You feel comfortable speaking through.
Lord, just as You did for Elijah, please take a coal from Your alter and touch my lips to purify My mouth. Let it be set apart for Your purposes, pure and holy. Lord. With Your help, I set a guard over my everyday speech so that I do not say anything that dishonors or displease You in any way. I renounce all vulgarities, gossip, untruths, unkind words, complaining, murmuring, or any other thing that defiles me as Your spokesperson. Help me to avoid these things Lord, and let nothing come out of my mouth that taints the messages You desire to speak through me.
Lord, in addition, I ask You to put a guard over me, to keep from speaking my own words or my own messages as though they were Yours. I choose not to say say things that You are not saying. I choose to represent You cleanly and accurately, and I do not want to misrepresent You in any way, shape or form. Lord, I set myself aside to seek increased clarity of hearing, and the ability to clearly and accurately discern exactly what You want said. With Your help, I will deliver Your message exactly the way You want it delivered. Help me to become an accurate representative for You--one who speaks only and precisely what You are saying.
Lord, there are times when I am concerned that I am might make a mistake and misquote You. I ask that You keep me from doing that. Also, keep me from any deception and from any spirit of false prophecy. Let all that comes out of my mouth be pure and holy, and let it be precisely what You want to say.
Lord, I want to have a pure heart for You as I speak forth Your word. I present my heart to You that You might shape it and fill it with the compassion and love that You carry in Your heart. I choose to be motivated by love in all that I say and do, and especially when I speak for You at Your command. So please help me to always have the right motives and attitudes when I speak Your words. I want You to be pleased not only with what I say when I prophesy, but also with the attitude of My heart before You as I deliver Your word.
Dear Lord, please continue to increase the clarity and sharpness of my hearing. I am willing to give those specific details that show the person that this word really is from You, and I will speak what You show me to speak. Lord, give me the confidence and boldness to speak what I hear You say. I won't say anything that You are not saying, and I choose not to omit anything that You want said.
In addition, Lord, I am asking You to place Your anointing on the words as I speak them forth. Let Your life and power resonate in them. Put Your authority on Your words--the authority to set captives free and to break off all of the bondages and yokes of the enemy. Let healing power and restoration be released as Your words go forth from my mouth. Send Your Holy Spirit to bare witness to their spirit that this is You speaking. Lord, let the words that I speak be Your words, and let them be spoken Your way, and in Your power and anointing. Enable me to flow with You in this.
Lord, I want to be Your spokesperson and I make myself available to You for that purpose. I ask You to use Me in that capacity. I trust You, and I will speak forth the words that You give me to speak. I love You so much, Lord, and I delight to serve You. Than You for the opportunity to so do.
I thank You because I know You will hear and answer this prayer. I offer You my worship and my love and my adoration, because You are worthy of all praise and glory. I freely and willingly give myself to You as Your servant and Your spokesperson; and I pledge to obey You no matter what You ask Me to do. I serve You because I love You.
I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
Proclamation For The Internet
Since many aspects of GodSpeak, including the prayer-school, are provided via email and web pages, we have an invested interest in covering the internet in prayer.
A lot of people only use one or two aspects of the internet, such as email or web pages, and have been taught that the rest of the internet is evil and to be avoided at all costs. But that is not true. The internet is neither good nor evil--it is merely a communication tool. It is a part of the media, just like television, magazines, newspapers, etc. The internet has the potential to be used for evil, but it also has the potential to be used for good.
The key to whether the internet is "good" or "evil" depends on how it is used and on what materials are presented on it. The devil would like very much to use the internet as a tool to promote his own agenda. At the same time, the devil would like to keep believers from using the internet to advance the kingdom of God. So we want to pray that the devil not be allowed to accomplish His purposes on the internet, but that God's purposes would be accomplished through it.
The internet is very powerful, because people from all over the world have instant access to its material via email, web pages, chatrooms, blogs, bulletin boards, discussion centers, etc. It touches and effects a lot of lives, and therefore it makes sense to cover it in prayer.
There are many good things on the internet to help people better their lives, including health and diet advice, support groups for people trying to overcome some type of problem, etc. The internet is a powerful tool to help people obtain information on almost every subject and to keep abreast of the news. It's chatrooms provide a way for people to make online "friends" who share similar interests, and to begin to build relationships. There are also many godly resources for believers on the internet and we want to bless those things.
But the internet can also be a place where people are introduced to addictions, brought in to bondage or exposed to people who desire to harm them. Of course, we want to stand against the devil using the internet in that manner.
So I am providing a proclamation prayer that blesses and calls forth the "good" aspects of the internet and stands against the negative ones. Feel free to add things to this prayer that God puts on your heart if you pray.
I am hoping that the Lord will lay it on some intercessors hearts to pray for the internet on an ongoing basis.
Proclamation Prayer To Reclaim The InternetOur Lord Jesus prayed, "Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven." We stand in agreement with His prayer in the area of the Internet. We recognize that it is simply a communication tool, and it is neither good nor bad in it's own merit. We claim it and set it aside for God's kingdom and principles, that it it would be used to mold the minds of men in accord with God's plans and purposes.
Specifically we call all internet activity to come into alignment with God's will and principles. We declare that it will no longer be used to promote the devil's agenda to kill, steal, destroy, corrupt, demoralize and discourage. Instead, let the internet be used to present truth and hope, to encourage people, and to help them raise to their full potential and step into their god-given destiny.
We are believing the Lord for
A decrease of negativity, hostility, hopelessness and unwholesomeness on the internet.
