I was intensely in prayer about something.. something I have brought to the Lord on more than one occasion, an area of concern to me. I remember, as I was praying to the Father, I said,

"Lord, I don't mean to be a pain in the butt bringing this to you yet again, but... "

"Teresa." God broke into my prayer. "I am a spirit being. I don't have a butt!"

I started laughing so hard I could not remember what I was going to pray next. So we had a time of wonderful fellowship together.

Never forget that God has a rich sense of Humor and He can be very playful.

My prayer life may be a tad unusual. But from time to time, the Lord tells me to pray to a certain member of the Trinity. This morning when I was in prayer, I felt God direct me to spend the morning talking with Jesus. I happily started by talking to Jesus. But as the morning progressed, I found my prayer life wandering all over the place and I was addressing the Father and the Holy Spirit as well, and occasionally addressing Triune God (sorta catching all 3 at once). I was in the shower and was intently talking to Triune God about something when He said to me,

"Teresa, didn't I ask you to address your prayers to Jesus this morning?"

"Yes Lord!" I knew He was right and I could not believe I had forgotten so soon. So I said, "I am sorry, Lord, I have been wandering all over the place."

Then God began to compare my morning's prayer to a child with good intentions but a short attention span. And He said that I should not despair because I would grow into longer and more focused attention spans in prayer. Then He directed me to go seek Jesus again.

So I prayed, "OK, Jesus, here I am. I am listening, please speak to me."

Then I tried to get really still and focused so I could hear Him. Without realizing it, I even held my breath.

Then Jesus broke into my thoughts and said, "Teresa, what are you doing?"

"I am waiting to hear from you Lord."

"Do you think that holding you breath is going to make me speak to you any faster?"

I burst out laughing. I had not even realized I was holding my breath until He said that.. but if I held it too long I guess I would have been seeing Him face to face.

God really does have a delightful sense of humor.
