Recently I traumatized my wife by showing her some of the biblically-accurate angels (which are nothing like the chubby baby cherubs the Catholic tradition enjoys drawing). Some are of these beings are large "rings" encircled with eyes while others have four ferocious faces. Biblical angels are often called the "heavenly host" meaning God's army. They come with swords drawn and not a cuteness overload. She later asked me are there female angels? Which is a rather difficult question. But we will look at it today. There are only a couple biblical verses that I know of.
The first is Zechariah 5:9 "Then I raised my eyes and looked, and there were two women, coming with the wind in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between earth and heaven."
While the passage does not call them "angels" directly, all the evidence is there. They have large wings and perform duties on God's behalf. What else could they be?
Next is from the book of Enoch. Chapter 6 of Genesis and of Enoch tell of holy angels leaving their place in heaven to have intercourse with human women.
Genesis 6:1-4 Now when men began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they took as wives whomever they chose.
So the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days shall be 120 years."
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and afterward as well, when the sons of God had relations with the daughters of men. And they bore them children who became the mighty men of old, men of renown.
Enoch 6:2 And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another: 'Come, let us choose us wives from among the children of men and beget us children.'
Those who dismiss the book of Enoch quote Matthew 22:30 "For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven," but this passage does not mean that angels are incapable of intercourse, as rather it means the angels do not marry because God has not ordained marriage for angelic beings.
Most of the focus is on the male angels copulating with human females, but there were also some cases of the reverse:
Enoch 19:2 "And the women of the angels who went astray will become sirens"
Sirens are a kind of lust and seduction demon; what we know today as mermaids. Ancient stories like the Odyssey told of the ship captain having his men tie him to the mast ahead of time so that he would not steer the ship toward the sirens' temptation. The Starbucks logo of a woman with her legs "tails" spread open invitingly is a siren. Starbucks by the way, promotes homosexuality and demonic liberal values any chance they get, and its coffee should be avoided by believers.
Note there is an alternate interpretation some take where "women of the angels" is instead read as "wives of the angels," thus referring to the human women these divine being coupled with. A find this troublesome because it would suggest that the punishment for these women was a type of immortality, whereas biblically immortality is only given as a reward to the righteous who are in Christ. It makes more sense that the "women of the angels" refer to the female angels who participated in the rebellion by leaving their divine home to form earthly relationships.
So in the end the answer to the question "are there female angels" is yes! There are female angels. Both holy and fallen.
